With its 310 meters and 80 storeys, Cayan Tower in Dubai is the tallest twisted tower in the world. Each of the 80 storeys is rotated by 1.2 degrees, creating a full 90 degree spiral of the building. Inaugurated in June this year, 80 per cent of Cayan Tower’s 495 apartments are already sold.
The building has attracted a fair amount of international attention, and had granted permission for the French Spiderman, Alain Robert, to climb the building before the end of the year.
In the corridors of the building, it was essential to ensure easy access to the installations in the cavity. The ceilings in the corridors therefore had to be easy to demount and robust in order to withstand frequent handling. Furthermore, due to the curving movement of the corridor the ceiling tiles had to be easy to adjust, as each of them was cut to size on site.
The ideal solution to all the requirements was found in Knauf Danoline’s Plaza Regula which has been specified for all the corridors of the tower. Plaza ceiling is known
for its durability and straightforward design.
